I Wait for Love

I wait for love …

wait
I Wait for Love…

Through traps and stolen hearts….

So prone to the words espoused
to entreat the heart, like
tentacles sucking, grasping,
holding prey to still the will,
and as captive, surrender.

Yet often those words
so beguiling at first,
fade in feeling as the grasp tightens,
and trapped am I,
my wants forsaken, my heart stolen.

Were I to know,
the intentions veiled under pretence,
the heart would not warm,
the mind not give so freely,
sworn to love’s sweet song.

Perhaps tis just the being wanted
that pledges a soul’s need,
thoughts of loving thrills the seed
of surrender,
and the trap that holds a heart to ransom.

Lost to need not want,
I stumble from one to another,
trapped and lonely, loveless
yet enticed nonetheless,
and maybe in that I’m blessed,
but still, I wait for love.

Never give up hope, Tony, it is there for you. Real love is hard to find, as your poem expresses. Sad yet shows determination to not give up on love. Well done.
