Truth… to Know

To  express what truly life’s about …

To clench the truth, to hold it close and know,
that all the delusions we chose
are just the insecurities we have shown,
to somehow cradle the self without change.

Yet in doing so we leave ourselves behind,
what could and should be, but blind
to stay within the world we know like rhyme,
familiar and constant to appease the fear.

To hold delusion close to heart is a travesty,
for in belief we accept its truth,
and live a path of a tangential ruse,
that keeps us tethered to our fears and lies.

No good ever comes from hiding,
for in time we will be found, revealed,
and nothing can prevent this fear
from taking us to painful and harsh resolves.

If only we could take that step of honesty,
that whisper of knowing that haunts our cognizance,
instead of taking the easy lie that conspires to ruin our lives,
and keeps us from freedom to know and love and express
what truly life’s about.
