The Alternative…a voice in the wilderness

The Alternative
The Alternative…a voice in the wilderness

Consider the alternative,
the brass-balled, committed stand,
not this half-earthed bland affront,
placating drivel to make a point,
but the out on a limb stoic brand
of self imprinting,
making it know for what you stand,
and unafraid for it be known.

Too many times we flinch at truth,
keep quiet to uphold the ruse,
that we care not to make waves
in an ocean of storms,
and instead swallow our tongue,
and mindfully protect the lies
by a silent resolve.

Yet what change do we expect,
when the same ‘yes men’ maintain intent,
and truth is never revealed
when lies keep the boat afloat,
and deliver the same yield,
to propagate the pretense,
when one word could bring light to bare,
as change is the necessity of evolution.

Very wise words, Tony, in this well-written poem. I often bite my tongue to avoid conflict, and inadvertently perpetuating a lie or misconception by doing so. Afterwards, I often wish I had spoken up, but then it is too late.
