Serendipitous

Serendipitous this tryst,
this bumping into bliss,
perchance upon a street, to meet
that one soul that eludes even dreams.
Yet here I am, and she a smile,
that rearranged my spine,
my afferent mind scattered into
a stumbling, wordless fool.
Yet she stays,
that smile more honest than the day,
and talk we must,
for tis like a long lost friend I trust.
We are one at first,
before words could ever curse our fate,
as laughter rang out like a church bell,
and my heart did swell, for this miracle.
For words like honey from her lips
did kiss my mind,
her every syllable like notes of a symphony,
as together they rose in beauteous harmony.
So I reply, in nervous vowels and wry,
to catch that butterfly,
not let her flutter by before my soul
can plead its case and sanctify this moment.
She sees me, I know it,
deep into my eyes she peers
and delves so gently to allay my fears,
to keep me there in her presence.
So we stay, words exchanged,
hearts beating so fast,
our souls in recognition
of love once held and now re-found.
Hand in hand, exhilaration,
we walk away, that moment sealed
in hearts revealed, that cannot ignore the plight,
when love was finally found that night.

Most lovely and romantic poetry. Enjoyed. Those first fast heart beating moments remembered.
Glad you enjoyed it Rasma, we never forget those moments, do we. Take care.
You found your beloved, Tony? Such a lovely, romantic verse.
I wish, but I’m glad you enjoyed the poem. Cheers!
Well, when you do just be open and let her know. She will be one lucky lady. Cheers!

Thanks Bill, pleased you appreciate my work. Take care my friend.
Such classic lines. I appreciate your skilled use of internal rhyme. Did you use off rhyme as a strategy to break the jarring nature of straight rhyme? Jamie
