The Life I Observe

The Life I Observe …

The Life I Observe
The Life I Observe…perspective.

Prudently aware of incoming affronts,
I step back, instinctively baring the brunt,
for if it exists and aimed right at me,
I guess I must endue it, my lesson for free.

There is no avoidance that in long term is of benefit,
for the path that I’m on and me are not separate,
as life dictates the directions I propose,
often the repercussions are a punch in the nose.

I do not regret all those bruises I’ve earned,
all the faults I have found in what I’ve discerned,
yet this struggling not to duck when those punches are thrown,
are never so easy when results already known.

So in the end life is a punching bag of sorts,
each step to the left a bruised nose and a thought,
to reconcile the oversight, to balance the mark,
and let that life flow through the light not the dark.

I’m prudently aware of incoming affronts,
but in the end flow, just bend with the punch,
and accept that my life in extremes is well-deserved,
regardless my judgement its the life I observe.

Very well done, Tony. I like the way you connected the affronts to boxing. When one can bend and flow then the outcome of the rounds is easier to live with, IMHO. Great work. xx

Glad you related Phyllis, so pleased you enjoyed it. Thanks also for your work on SEO. I’m slowly learning what’s best to do, but I guess that poetry is often little understood by algorithms. Take care.

You are most welcome, Tony. I enjoy my editing tasks, so don’t mind at all. When a poet is inspired to write, the last thing to think about is SEO stuff. You are doing well and providing quality content, and that is the most important point.
