As Light Dictates
Light dictates …

Attune to light, as its very nature
to shed truth upon life
is without degree,
an enlightening plight,
and shadows therefore,
as light’s opposite cast,
holds all that we want hidden,
the dark veil of evil under mask.
But when light adorns us,
our skin and countenance revealed,
our back then in shadow,
so dark and concealed;
so are we then half sin,
an enlightened front,
and our back where evils been,
where creatures nest in parlous affront?
Yet, in the light of day
my shadow follows,
twisting and turning as light dictates;
perhaps then tis not evil at all,
but a slave to light
and without light, decay,
then tucked in at night
it gathers with my all,
its freedom carries forth, where it may.

Very interesting and sublimely expressed, Tony. Perfect balance between light and dark, half sin, half good. I love it! Well done, dear poet.
Thank you Phyllis, glad you appreciated and related to the work. Cheers!
Another excellent poem, Tony. It’s just what I’ve come to expect from you.
Much appreciated Bill, and thanks for the compliment. I do spend a lot of time with my art and as a writer it becomes our lives. Take care my friend.
Oh I really like what you did with this, from the obvious balance of light to dark, to a slave to light… or perish. A fresh twist in the perspective. Good stuff to ponder. 🙂
Best,
Mel
Glad it made you think, I think that is the challenge: to comes up with unique and different ways at looking at life and all aspects thereof. Thanks Mel.
