A Place of Deep Canyons

Deep Canyons …

canyons

I have always found solace in the solitude
that which only  solitude can offer
maybe  to be among humans simply hurts too much
it’s either undying love , hate or death

I will go there in the end  where my friends
will tread over my ashes  and dust  and lift my dreams
carrying  me with them wherever they will go
in the wind gaps of mountain passes

In deep canyons where the wind moans softly
like a lover in rare pleasure
or along some rocky ridge where  the sun
dances upon my views

For today though  I will walk and I will run
until the thunder of hooves is silent and still
until I am tired and hanging my head low
and then  I will wander  away again

Allow me but one open range where
pleasures are all I can  stand
where  love isn’t  a thing of cost
and where a life is worthy of the living

Sometime in my life, I started to write about my life journey, in poetry, in story perhaps to sort them out and enter them into a place of safekeeping. The soul of the writer is perhaps best described in their words, emotions and thoughts. If these poems or stories touch something inside you then maybe I have succeeded in sharing. I will not write about my self in profile, because self isn't so important in writing. Only the journey in words and the sharing are important. Why would we say "Now about me!"... I'd rather write about life, nature, serenity ...

There you go again, Ed – grabbing hold my heart with the beauty of your poetry. Your open range is within your heart and soul, may you always be at peace and may you stick around for a long time to come, my friend. Hugs …

Lovely Ed, succinct and emotive with some excellent phrasing and quality verse. One oversight. Stanza 2, ‘tread’. Cheers!

Ed, you and I live in different parts of the world but we both love the countryside, nature, and open spaces in preference to the cities. Good poem.

Ed you are such an eloquent writer, full of passion. I greatly admire this piece and felt the peace that you find through nature and quiet introspection. Inspiring.

    Best,
