What Lay Beneath
Beneath

The tempest may thunder its way to attention,
yet the aftermath is strewn with peaceful sighs,
as life in acceptance, displays
a quiet tribute to the storm passed,
and those undulations of equity
give rise to a calm and considered understanding.
Life espoused is a tempered rendering of extremes,
fought and won in seeming battles,
yet far from truth, this ebb and flow
marks the balance of omniscient intent,
the laws that govern life in its ensuing,
and the beauty that marks and tributes all.
Black is simply white without light
and white the light of blackness lit,
and so all is far from what it seems in life,
beneath the superficial acknowledgements
of what eyes relate, yet
the microcosm within offers so much more.
Lose not the inquiring mind,
for paper is just paper, white of blackness lit,
and with words upon, a world of meaning
exudes and transforms a mind,
to know of many things
that an open heart can imbibe.
