Aspiring Lies

Aspiring Lies …

Aspiring Lies…ambition

Nowhere do those cries of anguish disturb
the wants and focus of those aspiring,
to better others to despair,
collateral damage a contingency planned,
to justify a single care and will espoused.

For the suffering of others,
is just an inconvenient truth once removed,
as empathy is excused,
and will, the dominance of thought and action,
personal need always sanctioned.

How selfish minds of aspiration’s torrid rise,
when nothing at all can compromise,
and all is justified in ends,
and those who fall, from their own mistake,
responsibility withdrawn for the offender’s sake.

Blind is ambition without compassion,
as will strives to take life apart,
and nothing colors truth like determination,
in the hands of a narcissist, a complex art,
with the dice always loaded.

Lies abide the aspiring will,
any trap, any words to instill the course,
and regardless belief or the origins source,
truth becomes the lie,
and the aspirations so cleverly gleaned
are served to make real the dream.

Interesting poem, Tony, I like it. Sometimes we are chained with so many ambitions that we lose our very true self, and fail to recognize our own inner-light in the darkness.

So true Surabhi, it’s easy to get lost in the path of least resistance. The problem is we can lose focus and indeed our own grasp on reality. Glad you enjoyed it.
