A World of Noise…finding Solace
Needed Refuge…
Retreat into the gentle folds within,
like a fleshy blanket, warm and secure,
where none shall harm or wound a soul,
just the faint lingering echoes in the distance;
and so often I have taken stance,
when life just leads to confusion,
a barrage of assaults too much to bare,
lost within my solace.
Tis not fear, nor cowardice
that seeks this inner peace,
just the need to silence the noise,
that so completely can disable,
and I simply consider myself
beyond the demands of others,
to find peace and secure my own balance,
in order to restore myself to function
The world is so noisy, so demanding,
often its pitch and crescendo intolerable,
and so I withdraw myself,
so I can process one at a time,
to not fall to the brash and contentious voices
that seem to rule the world with such disdain,
without consideration, without empathy
or without any form of kindness.
I then surround myself with kind souls,
those who give not take, even in business,
and as surely as they know,
kindness engenders clients for a lifetime,
and my loyalty to them unequivocal;
if only more people understood,
their thoughtless lives made harder from the attitude,
and the likes of me shun them,
for their noise and contentious ardor.
So my world is more silent,
and words spoken have meaning,
for those demands and painful assaults are few,
and happiness and consideration shared
in a world where kindness and caring feeds my days;
so what I used to ignore just disappears,
replaced by kind and gentle souls,
and we all make better each others lives,
for all the caring we bestow.

Kindness and caring, gentle souls – this resonates with me, Tony. I also prefer to be surrounded by gentle souls, those who give and share like needs and know what love and peace is. This is a beautiful verse and I so understand just how important kindness and peace is. Magnificent, great piece.
