Quiet Conversations
The silence grew
between us…
heads bowed in screens
and hybrid magazines.
Conversations
on the edge of things
“coffee?”…
our kindred music wavering.
The sink is full of empty
dishes…
and I miss your hands
about my waist…
I miss your gaze
that made me feel…
beautiful
even in my darkest days.
I miss your stories
that hummed…
to the strum of your guitar-
now silent in the corner…
I pour quietly over
these passing thoughts…
rinsing away
the crumbs of our yesterday…
I want to say…”I miss your way”
But I turn off the light…
to see your eyes
rise from the inauthentic glow
of your cell phone…
I want to say…”I feel alone”
But I stay quiet
with my conversation…
“I Love you…goodnight”
“Goodnight”.

Hi Mel,
This is extraordinaire’. So much in sync with our times. A message put across very eloquently. Well done !
I love the last para
I want to sayâŚâI feel aloneâ
But I stay quiet
with my conversationâŚ
âI Love youâŚgoodnightâ
âGoodnightâ.
So much of considerate thought went into that.
Thank you Tarun, glad that you appreciated my intent. Yes, I wonder how much people think about how technology in all of its splendor, has and is changing our relationships every day. I think its a topic worth opening up some more. I appreciate your comment.
Best,
Mel
From the heart, as it should be.
Thank you Kurt, and a warm welcome to you.
Very emotional poetry. This poem is very close to a place I have seen a few steps behind here. I think I needed this read. Jamie
Well than I am glad that you stopped by, so much appreciated.
