Patient

As day infuses its unique deft touch,
and skies display plumes of strewn grey,
I gaze with sombre mood the chill affront
that weighted gloom inspired,
to write upon my parchment bare,
what stirs this heart to feel, to dare,
of loves lost, hope aspired
and the blessing that even winter brings.
Dull the day, beauty in still repose,
within each and every tiny bloom
upon my fields of green,
my overgrown meadow dream,
that dances in the cold breeze
like fireflies attached to string;
and my pen begins its scratching flow,
to ward of the cold and in thoughts evoke.
And soon beauty is found,
beneath this grey cover weighted down,
and words arrive in minds eye,
and ink imparts to live and die,
the thoughts that come to share;
so bleak the light outside my pane,
yet swirling cloud and rain disdain
cannot sour my page.
For beauty cannot hide from these eyes,
rose glasses my choice and fate,
to pen my love and every passion make,
a rhyming verse so beguiling,
day cannot in all darkness imbue;
for sun in waiting, behind my grey,
is a patient orb and shall prevail,
when beauty switches hands, and clouds on blue do sail.

The heavy weight of weather upon us does fill our well of words to share. Seasons change, they come and go leaving a trail of moods to fill our cups to overflowing. Thus we share the shadows cast upon us from the dark and lightened skies that carpet our moods so many dear poet. You capture the very essence of moods in your scribe perfectly rendered here. Bravo.
Thank you Vincent, the seasons do play on my mind and their moods direct the pen, often. So pleased you appreciated the work. Cheers!
Oh, so beautiful, Tony. I love to look beyond the grey, beyond dismal weather, beyond moods, to find and embrace beauty. Words to remember, embrace and live by often shine in your poetry. Thank you!
A pleasure, and we all have to hang onto beauty, as the world is filled with darkness, that really can never consume the light that lives within our hearts. Take care.
