Should Be Paradise
Should Be Paradise

The quest has fallen
on blood-soaked, rocky grounds,
that struggle for survival
returned to millennia past,
and not the pursuit of food
or natural elements our foe,
but ourselves.
Has all the accomplishments been for nothing,
technology our crowning triumph,
to then endure the indignity
of suffering by our own hands,
when we were once a tribe
bound by our will to survive,
to overcome a harsh world?
That done,
we now create that harsh world,
choose to create adversity,
and for what, our warrior nature,
our arrogant beliefs,
our judgements of no consequence,
and yet forced death continues?
Shallow is the intellect we belief we embody,
deep is the darkness within,
to, for one moment
think we are better than anyone else,
when we all came from the same origin,
to think we are righteous in killing,
when death is the end of us.
How can sanity and intellect be in opposition,
how can we justify cruelty and hatred,
when life shows an alternate path,
and how can love not hold enough
for minds to embrace peace as choice,
when our children show us what potential is
in a world that should be paradise?

I couldn’t agree more Tony, and you carry the message with such sophistication. I’m glad I am not alone in my thoughts, as everything seems to be going in such a sad direction, I only wonder what it will take for people to come together…Well done.
Best,
Mel
I’m not sure Mel, I guess all we can do is live our lives for what we believe and hope that its catching. It saddens me beyond words, because as a species we have such potential, yet we yield to primordial echos. Take care
Well Tony, that certainly sums up the human race. There’s nothing new under the sun, and although we need technology in a technological world, things seemed so much more peaceful without it/ Anyway, another great job. Well done!
Thanks Bill, yes, I often think we’d all be better off on farms, living off the fruits of our labor and regaining some of the values that have obviously been lost in a world where everything is at hand. We’ve just become spoiled. Cheers my friend.
