Oh Mercy, Politics
Saccharine words …
Saccharine words drip from thin hard lips,
the supercilious grin that writhes beneath
a glint in the eye of arrogance,
and for all they say and never do,
why should we engage, sustain or
let them baby-kiss their dark intentions away?
I hate the guise, the circumstantial surprise,
when elected and we learn their true intentions;
for the campaign is just a show,
a laser-light misconstrued woe,
a slight of hand and smoke and mirrors glue,
to distract the facts in warehouse stacks, to lose.
Then what goes on behind closed doors
makes me shudder, no words to utter,
just the fear that all this corruption
is gathering like moss upon that proverbial stone;
and who will save the day,
when we are all sold, and the nation we once knew is gone.
World going to hell, I can sense that acrid smell,
all in the minds of arrogant leadership,
leaders of millions and questionable souls,
to arrest the contentions that death consoles,
and color and creed divide us all,
while those at the top count their coffers.

I was wondering who would be the first to drop a political verse. So much to say about the corruption in Washington and the drive for ultimate power. Good read
Thanks Ralph, yes someone had to say it, and frightening it is, not just for the US but the world. Cheers!
Very good, Tony. It seems like all presidential campaigns are pretty bad, but this one is downright crude and vicious. I think you nailed it.
Thanks Phyllis, yes, who can trust a politician, the smokescreen for an uncomfortable reality. Take care.
Very well said, Tony. The outcome of this US election could have serious consequences for not just America, but the world. Scary stuff.
It is scary John, I just can’t believe how gullible the voters are, thinking that in any way Trump could be a viable option. Word gone mad!
Your description of election campaigning was spot on.
Much appreciated Lori, glad you related to my thoughts. Cheers!
Not always behind closed doors even; out and out criminals running with enough evidence to jail them ten times over but yes our government has certainly become corrupt and I do look for better days.
As we all do Jackie, politics has become a joke, a very sad joke of incompetence and corruption. Cheers!
