Nationalization through Regulation

Regulations and rulesAmerica is the land of the free?

Sorry but that’s not enough for me

When government tries to nationalize

The people have no compromise

Rules controlling industry

Energy and refineries

Maunfacturing and medication

Fianaces and publications

Automobiles and transportation

Gas and oil exploration

Making rules to manage rules

What’s allowed to be taught in schools

Words are good and others bad

The daily catch while catching shad

Anchor weights and size of ship

Areas you can skinny dip

Manipulating our economy

Ladling the bureaucracy

It’s organized choreography

By self appointed aristocracy

When people start the question why

They clarify and classify

Private industry seems controlled

Entrepreneurs wearing blindfolds

Only the big boys can afford to play

Just try to build your own highway

Or a car that gets low mileage

You’ll find your voice quickly silenced

Things aren’t as free as they seem to be

Where’s the choices for you or me?

Why the standing on my liberty?

Maybe I want my own energy

Step off the grid and you’ll get a visit

The law is final and explicit

Regulations run the land

Everything else has been banned

Unless it meets the the definition

Laid out in the regulations

FDA, USDA, EPA, and FTC

NLRB, OSHA, and the SEC

The DEA, VA, FHA, and EEOC

Just a partial list of agencies

All designed to enforce the rules

Watching business, watching schools

Led by appointed public servants

Vigilant and observant

Keeping tabs on the citizens

Safeguarding us from carcinogens

Monitoring antihistamines

Measuing the instabilities

Disabilites and possibilites

Lacking sensibility

False sense of tranquility

Sensing hostility

Its all about control of things

Orchestarted by self appointed kings

Are we in Bejing?

Or just government playthings?

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.

A very powerful write Ralph, and unfortunately all so true of the US government and the ever-spiraling downward of agencies and laws that in the end just cost and have no real effect on betterment. The US government as far as I can see is one of the most corrupt systems on earth, and instead of saving the world, is slowly bringing the world down. If Trump is elected, its all over as far as I cam see. So well rendered in fast-paced verse to exemplify the problems. Excellent.
