Illusory Superiority

Superiority

Illusory Superiority

Overestimated abilities

Enhanced personality

Incomparable qualities

Not what you see

But what I say instead

An understanding

Above the rest

Academic perception

Flawed direction

Cognitive comparison

Inconsistent fact collection

Immune to outside measurement

Adored in friendships

Never one for depressants

Better than the aggregate

Blissfully ignorant deep inside

Help buried in a landslide

Recognize or wait outside

Negativity you’ll have to hide

When I’m great you’ll hear

Absolutely nothing to fear

Professional puppeteer

Liken myself to Shakespeare

Never learned from my mistakes

Since they were great in the first place

Small successes instead to elevate

Can’t believe I’m not great

Asymmetrical insights

Skewed experiments brought to light

What is wrong and what is right

Keep your shoes out of sight

Confrontational bias needs to feed

Plucking the denial weeds

Planting awareness seeds

Another viewpoint is what you need

It seems as if a false sense of superiority is prevalent among not only many people, but many groups.  Not naming names, but there are groups (political parties too) that believe that they are superior in every way to other groups.  There are people who think they are smarter than everyone else, even though they are not.  There are people who are unable to walk in another person’s shoes, existing in a constant state of denial, and literally stuck from being able to improve their weaknesses as they just won’t open up to seeing them.

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.

Truth be spoken. Great thoughts, Ralph. If only we all could open up to and accept our own weaknesses rather than thinking others are inferior, this world would be far different than it is now. I really admire the way you bring terms/phrases together that by themselves would not state the strong message they do when gathered in one verse. Well done!

Agree, peoples denial of equality is a hard road in the end, for they are lost in their own beliefs and therefore living a delusion of grandeur, lost to themselves and reality. Much of the world now lives like this, the lack of spirituality and connection to life an affront that is never understood. Great thoughts here Ralph. Hope you had a great day! Cheers!
