Beneath, Betrayal
Beneath, Betrayal
From dry lips words crack under pressure,
eloquent thoughts burned with remorse,
and I see the pain of your struggle,
the fractured thoughts,
so arranged in contiguous array,
yet falling from place, unable to say;
what truly haunts your mind,
is the glowing of your own lies,
when buried deep was you intention,
truth grasping to find light’s ascension.
Betrayal is a bitter state,
no matter how it is dressed, plumes of lesser fate,
and no matter your ruse, your sobbing subterfuge,
your trembling dry lips
tell more than emotion’s hold,
more than the lies you’ve told,
as you bleat your cursed rhyme, sublime,
to placate the treachery, the vows broken
and the ending for your wanton pleasure,
unspoken.
And so I let you free,
warmed by your own perfect lies,
to bask in the glow of your pretence,
and know that your broken words set me free,
what surely would have come as even greater pain,
should I have fallen for your dry words and sour lies
a moment longer,
and your tears, so afferent is countenance,
so stifled in reality, by your planned artifice,
is my fitting last memory of your betrayal.

This betrayal was vividly brought into view by your words of conviction, then the freedom of being set free. Beautiful!
Thanks so much Ruby, glad you enjoyed my words and expression. Take care.
