Voodoo Flu
Swimming in a Voodoo
flu…
prickly pins
pressing at my aching skin…
Mind’s gone trickling
falling
through…
slithering snakes of Kathmandu.
Stiffened neck
throat pinched in glue…
venom’s chest
I’ve lost my groove.
Swimming in a Voodoo
flu…
bring an amulet
bring a rune…
Peel the shroud
from a clouded room…
let light
shine through…
To heal me soon.

Cute and lively, I heard the Voodoo music rushing through my veins, felt the prickly pins too. Felt my neck a twitching too and the venom pulsating quickly through. Mel, you had my toes tapping to this Voodoo swimming tune. I like it, rhyme sublime. Well done.
Thank you Vincent, glad that you enjoyed it! It’s funny what comes to mind in a feverish state. 😉
Best,
Mel
Like Vincent, I found this verse a lot of fun, Melissa. A catchy rhythm and freaky monkey carving image all added to the enjoyment. Well done.
I’m pleased that you had fun with it John, I felt like the image in the midst of it. Still getting my feet wet here…I appreciate the comment. 🙂
Best,
Mel

Glad you’re over that Mel, nothing worse than flu, except ‘Voodoo flu’, with a touch of the black magic to make you feel worse. Nicely rendered and hope you remain healthy. great work.
Haha, yeah it’s good to be looking back at it with a touch of humor. Been a long while, since I had the flu. Thanks for your thoughts. Appreciate your comment. 🙂
Best,
Mel
