Sweet

Sweet the air after rain,
the cleansing a feeling of restored hope,
and despite the doom and heavy burdened clouds,
I know the light is safely tucked away behind them.
The natural world evokes dreams,
an understanding of extremes,
and if we listen hard to her whispers,
we may begin to understand this world in constant flux.
For what is darkness and light
but how we respond to them,
and does happiness depend on sunny days, or darkest nights,
or are we the masters of our plight, in response?
I love the scent of honey suckle on the vine,
the delicate hint of rose, and the earthen mulch
as spring evokes the growth,
and life in all its aspects is sweeter than honey.
Tis we alone who can imbibe the truth,
the beauty in every single life and hope,
and when we judge each single thing,
we ignore everything, for what it truly is.
I love the smell of rain,
for all is does to feed our lives,
and as it falls from heaven’s glorious bounds,
and each drop as it touches ground,
is a blessing, we choose to take.

I could feel all those senses attacking my natural celebration of life Tony. One is glad to be alive to enjoy them still. Your poem ascended one to Heavens gate. Beautifully expressed as always my friend.
Much appreciated Vincent, yes, the natural world is our greatest gift in understanding and to see what harmony means in this life. Take care.
Rain is so refreshing and cleansing. It is so wonderful to read about the beauty of Nature and what she so generously gives to us. Beautiful, Tony.
Thanks Phyllis, yes nature provides not just life but shows us in perfection of what we are all capable…harmony.
