Reaching Out

I reach out, a tremulous hand in fear of absence,
imploring human connection,
an understanding that few seem to offer,
and rejection’s flag waves vehemently
in the storms of the present.

Smiles of pleasantry
rise and fade like glimmering light,
followed by a glazed expression removal of soul,
capitulated to the walls of separation,
the silent focus of narrow-minded resolves.

So adept we are to the shell of souls lament,
we carry loose connection only,
for the sake of compliance and appearance,
all the time within, stark and emotionless,
keeping world at bay.

Fear it seems holds our world for ransom,
as violent possibilities surface in number,
bolstering our fears, our concerns,
and our hearts narrow to trusted and known acceptance,
all else a potential betrayal.

How sad this resolve, how captive our hearts and soul,
caught in a shell of uncertainty,
a rash and crusted armour of protection from our own,
in the fear of manipulation, theft and harm,
when searching for good is the only remedy.

If we expect harm, then what will ensue,
as if we expect and look for good, we shall find it,
as fear alone keeps us apart, race, colour, culture removed,
and we know we all have light,
if we just recognize it.

Yes Tony, we humans walk about with guarded hearts, fearing to reach out, expose our human qualities to one another with compassion, love and care. The race and color card often draws a dividing line in the sand of humanity. To love unconditionally in this world is near impossible for millions of people world wide. The “what’s in it for me” often raises it’s ugly head. Too many of us live in glass houses, fearful of losing our “Stuff” or having it taken away from us. Maybe one day earth will change to an “Utopian” world and never judge another fellow human by the color of it’s skin, financial wealth, status, career or education. To truly LOVE is to live in PEACE, finding it is the struggle we have. I know I won’t see it in my remaining life time. I will be exiting at the brink of world impending disasters.

That could be Vincent, as sad as that is, and it is obvious we have not learned from the past or the natural world. Instead we live partial lives in fear and keeping to those we know, a very sad and inhibiting resolve. Glad you related my friend. Take care.
