Perpetual Empathy
Perpetual Empathy …
An elegant pose,
an eloquent frozen moment,
for all the grace she was;
each line as if drawn by Michelangelo,
lead eyes to touch with gentle abandonment,
emotions held in check, restrained,
rather to follow each line
to pleasured ends of beauty.
When reality tells of beauty’s crested being,
no heart could avert the gifts in sight,
the perfection of a form within a halo’s delight,
and even sighs could not ensue,
when such beauty fills the room,
and love’s suggestions find flight,
deep within a soul,
where emotions can’t assume.
She played with beauty’s name,
as if she alone could claim,
and though we saw and felt her warm embrace,
tis not her, but love itself
that drove these passions within,
thoughts of dreams and sin,
this beguiling form of she,
this beauteous flesh of perpetual empathy.
How much this shapely woman of grace
could stir a heart and loins to break,
and in her vast and temporal effect,
she knew it so and so deeply inept,
to grasp pure love from what she made;
and so behind her glistening eyes,
a dark loneliness abides,
and all was not quite as it seems.

Tony your expression of empathy for the modern day Cleopatra whose only desire was to be loved and accepted by man. Instead she was taken advantage of for her beauty. Man desired and used her for their own selfish goals. A talented beauty she was indeed, she can make any man sweat instantly, her beauty was beyond measure, her senses appealing, drawing us to her lustfully. Yet she was really still a child, lost in the vast expanse of Hollywood. Swallowed up by stardom, her drug, her passions used for man’s own pleasures. She was one of the many misunderstood of her generation. Hollywood swallowed up dreamers like Marilyn, she was an innocent beautiful young woman on the cusp of greatness, then her candle was snuffed out, her gentle flames extinguished, her beauty arrested and put to rest forever in our thoughts. May you be RIP my sweet, beautiful star. Thank you Tony, for your brilliant expression of a beauty queen in so many ways.
Thank you Vincent, a sad tale seen far too much within the glitter of Hollywood. Much appreciated my friend.
Wow! That is exactly how I have always seen her. So beautiful and alluring, yet the eyes were empty, longing, sad. Such a sad price she paid for her beauty. Very well done, Tony. Superb!
Thank you Phyllis, yes I always saw that side of her and her being has never been forgotten. Very sad.
A wonderful tribute to a beautiful star, Tony. Tragically taken as too many are. Should your last line read “and all was NOT quite as it seems”?
Thanks John, stupid typo. Glad you liked the piece and thanks for your eagle eye. Cheers!
A photo and a picture of words – nicely done, Tony. Your very last line stood out to me, “. . . and all was no quite as it seems.” Not to take it out of context, but that describes much of life. Sometimes it takes great discernment to see past the facade. Thank you for a wonderful read!
A pleasure Bill, and glad you related and en joyed my thoughts. Cheers!
Very nice.
Cheers Dana, glad you enjoyed it.
