That Which Never Was

True love can be the one that never materializes …

never

True love can be the one that never materializes
and will never ever be,
but just know that I remember it
and the day we set it free.

You walked  without touching the floor
and I felt your presence linger,
your eye’s met mine in the center
as if from the tip of a finger.

And my heart never danced again
and probably never will,
at least  not with the same passion
still I wonder still.

Now I doubt you ever think of me
oh God what a stupid man,
but if you do and remember that dance
I know you’ll understand.

I know that which never was and
can never be again,
will remain here behind my memory’s  eye’s
until the very end.

Sometime in my life, I started to write about my life journey, or in poetry, in story perhaps to sort out the missing from the found perhaps and enter them into a place of safekeeping. The soul of the writer is perhaps best described in their own words, emotions and thoughts. If these poems or stories touch something inside you then maybe I have succeeded in sharing. I will not write about my self in profile, because self isn't so important in writing. Only the journey in words and the sharing are important. Why would we say "Now about me!"... I'd rather write about life, nature, serenity ...

Ed the memories we cherish most are those where LOVE lived once. I have fond memories of a deep abiding love, and nothing has come close to her, so I truly believe she lingers still, awaiting to love me again when we meet in eternity. There is nothing more satisfying to a man than a deep love that equals no other. Well penned Ed it flowed beautifully.

Lovely sentiment Ed, and yes, we all have those memories of unrequited love or love that was not just meant to be. They linger longest in our memories because the feelings were true and we knew that it would never be, yet possibility haunts us. Great work and emotive.
