It’s Over…just memories

Its Over...just memories
Its Over…just memories

Just Memories…

She smiles with an ambivalent uneasiness,
but memories cloud her,
as doubt, like glowing embers, radiates,
when fear steals the driver’s seat,
pedal down she longs to escape.

My eyes reassure her,
no compromise, no will taken,
no pressure to take what’s not given,
when she stares back, here eyes like black glass,
my words not held by heart, a confused intention.

I reach to take her hand,
as she rescinds the privilege, what the past commands,
but I stumble words, like tripping stones,
explanations just words taken flight.

Those infamous words…

With trembling lips she utters
those worst feared words, like thundering bells,
its over, and no repair no plea can remedy,
when decisions have concrete footing.

Her tears are real, her pain revealed,
yet future holds another path
but I must face this aftermath, the memories
like crystal sculptures, ensue,
but memory is all that’s due.

It’s Over…

When a woman says it’s over Tony, it usually is. My ex and I after 20 years of marriage, finally had the courage one day to say those very same words, I’ve been divorced now going on 17 years. The look on her face and from her eyes, clearly showed me it was over and I accepted it, with a heavy heart. But everything happens, I believe for a reason. Life is full of mysteries. Love, Marriage and Divorce are but just a few of them. Nicely worded my friend, I hope you recovered and moved on from that loss.

Yes I have, thanks Vincent. It was 23 years for me, about 8 years ago, but that moment and those words still linger. I see the benefit of that decision now, but at the time I did not; as you say everything has purpose. Glad you related my friend. Cheers!

What can I say, Tony? When it’s over, it’s over -sometimes. Rare, but sometimes. Beautiful work of art you painted of an ugly situation. Thank you, my friend.
