Human Spills

Egregious ills of human spills,
where anger rules and hatred’s will does spawn,
and reason turns its other face,
lost, ignoble, less than grace,
to haunt intended life.

Oh why does life so tender find,
the deepest fissure in darkest time,
to source the evil of human seed
and flourish here on earth.

I cannot abide this death parade,
this culling life for reason’s made,
yet for righteous minds a chosen plight,
to rid this earth of innocent life
so those of belief can endure.

Why is peace so rare in truth,
when all say it is our chosen route,
when means justify the actions taken,
regardless of the lives forsaken,
and death the stench of modern times.

Surely life is a sacred thing,
given to endue not sacrificed or death to bring,
yet so many choose for nil gotten gain,
to unleash darkness, suffering and pain,
for some misguided end.

Humanity deserves better for itself,
not forfeited for some ideal of wealth,
not lost to absurd belief,
not pitted against one another over lies,
or in colour, religion or creed despise;
we are so much better than this.
