The Father-Daughter Dance
The Father – Daughter Dance
When Galileo discovered the moons
around Jupiter dance orbital dance
he knew his world was changed with one quick glance,
enlightened his life by a million noons.
To not be able to hold my own joy
in circling the dance floor this special night
to watch your young small feet, to take such flight
as we laugh and we laugh above the noise.
A voice, “Dad, I am so very happy.”
Our hands are held tight as I twirl around,
with eyes shut this chance at ruminations.
To you my daughter I give all of me.
In auditorium our feet find ground
our dance taking place in constellations.

Nicely emotive rendering of that one father/daughter moment of dance. Well penned and heartwarming and enjoyed by this old poet. Nice work, and welcome to TCE.
Thank you Tony. I am glad to hear from you this morning.
Welcome to TCE, Jamie. A very enjoyable first post. A dance between father and daughter is always special.
Thank you John. I am happy to be writing here.
Hello Jamie and very nice to see you here. Oh I remember very well that first dance with all 4 of my children. I remember being in a different world too. Congratulations on that first dance. More to come for sure.
Thank you Vincent Moore. What a night Hannah and I had. She was filled with smiles.
So good to have you with us, Jamie. This is such a delightful poem about the father-daughter dance. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
We had such a beautiful evening! I hope to have more to share soon.
