Dark Side of Love

When the dark side comes around
as all things must
the moon the night the stars
the perfection of lust
I think of you and the lunar brightness
against wide open skies
I think of lust and of longing
of little love lies
Who but a man can promise all
and possess so few intentions
who but a woman can believe him
in her heart’s blind retentions
And then who is most at fault
for breaking all the rules
if not for the dark side of love
we might all be fools
So what power lies there inside the dark
what promise is this that’s broken
who’s heart will break the last
or are all night loves but a token

Very nicely penned poem, Ed. It flows smoothly and is a joy to read. It is good to see you back, giving us the joy of your fine poetry. Thank you for being here.
Oh Phyllis , Thank you for all of this !……:-]
Fine work Ed, evoking a new line of thought, of love. We are all both light and dark and so must love, with all its heartbreak and ecstasy. Very well rendered in fine poetic verse. great work my friend.
