CLOUDS OVERHEAD

To sit upon this wooden chair and stare above
into the clouds whose passing wings do stretch like doves
to know that I have found a place of land below
blue skies above, so vast and real to hold and show.
With you I see each step, each foot and I know I feel
upon my brow the weight of love, will show what is real.
I put my finger in the dirt to spell these words
upon the dust to show the earth I move forwards
with you to guide my feet and heart, another time,
another place, when I do pass you’ll read my rhyme.
I never thought I’d see the day when calm blue skies
would lead my way without the weapons of my lies.
Those awful, woeful lies are gone, my lips are clean,
with you, our children too, to say what words will mean
and to those clouds that float above I know your names,
your wise, your strong, outlived your age, behind your claims
that moving slow will show the way, will show our hearts
for what they are, we open secrets under feet
and give my name to you my love, a name in truth
and honesty, my name, Jamie, my only proof.

Very nicely done and very descriptive, Jamie. I’m not sure why but the line, “I never thought I’d see the day when calm blue skies would lead my way without the weapons of my lies.” stood out to me. Anyway, another great job. Thanks for sharing it!
Like the slow moving clouds up in the blue sky. Change happens slowly too. We learn from mother nature in so many ways. Nicely expressed Jamie.
Well you are only as good as your name, or is that word? Same thing, great thoughts and way to be.
Very well penned, Jamie. I love your descriptive verse and enjoyed reading it.
Lovely imagery Jamie, and yes, when all stripped away, we are who we are, our name, the truth. Great work, beautifully penned verse. Well done.
Thank you all for your kind words. I appreciate the read so much.
