Tell You, I Shall Tell You

Tell you, I shall tell you, then, as it has been my prerogative, I shall tell you once again…
For the ways I love thee cannot be gilded and packaged like an ornate piece of fine jewelry
Your beauty is not like a flower which shines briefly, then proudly fades and expires
A single moment spent alone with you has more value than the annals of history can show
My mind sees a panoramic expanse of everything the world has to offer
The width and breadth of such is great enough to bring utter stillness once beholden
Creations so amazing that each alone could encompass a lifetime of study
Very few have eyes that can see all that I see, and even fewer are open to those sights
Speaking in terms of the love we share, this should not come as a surprise or a comparison
Evermore and everlasting cannot be measured by the depth of a glance or the sight of an eye
No matter the expanse, nor the gathered creations, or the singularity of the view
Nay, the depth of the collective soul we now share is the only measurement of care
Lest we not forget the sights or glances, for they are what feeds that shared soul
Those flowers which give their spirits to us when shared in dazzling congregations
How you look when you are deep in thought, unmindful that anyone might be watching
A single ray of gold bursting forth from behind the high mountain peaks at daybreak
The peaceful faces of the fruit of our love as they rest peacefully in dreamland
Glimmers of beautiful visions, moments of transfixed sights, milliseconds and microburst
Words alone cannot express what the eyes can see, nor can the eyes write their memories
The sounds and sensations of everyday cannot be captured in their purest essence
Yet, each and all are part of the waterfall spilling over the edge of consciousness
Verses of the past have always drawn the conclusion that the eyes are the windows of the soul
But I pose this thought to you my love for it has not been approached and deserves some time
Whose eyes are the proverbial window to the soul we have shared for so many years?
Is it yours, where oceans collide with coral reefs and hues of blue never before seen are created?
Perhaps mine, where splinters of light penetrate from the dark reaches of the rainforest
Cavalcades of interwoven chestnut, mahogany, walnut, and ebony trees protecting its secrets
Tis not something to say for what is ours belongs only to us come matters of the heart
Yet still, I find myself captured in a thought pattern where my only care is to dwell on thoughts of you
Such a pleasant quandary to find oneself in, where perfection, rapture, and love are abound
As my prerogative is, so it shall be and tell you of the many ways my mind has captured your image
For beauty can be painted in so many ways and the canvases of the galleries of my heart are all yours
Tis easy for me to draw your sight, as too can I paint it, or sculpt it, or simply become it
Sharing a soul does that for a couple…tis true, for the feelings cannot be falsified
The beauty I touch is also touched by you and when I am afar, you do not feel alone
You see my love, so much can be claimed by those around us, but in those claims lie nothing
Truth, the most pure of all truisms lie deep in the swirls of that central pool of eternal happiness
How I do relish that the simplest truth is that the depth of the pool itself has an infinite ending
You see something as eternal and complex as the love shared between you and I cannot end
As profound as it may sound, neither did it ever begin either…it always existed in the ethereal plane
Over time the energy simply drew us together, pulling at our heartstrings when we strayed
As the raindrops flow together to form puddles, then ponds and lakes, and finally rivers and oceans
Thus was journey the waters of our souls embarked upon, flowing towards one another
Wrap your warmth around me my love, let our waters intermingle and our thirsts be quenched
For my love shall always be your comfort and your beauty will always be my beacon
It will guide me home whenever we must part, even if the time be only a matter of seconds
Drawn to me forever shall you be my darling, on outstretched wings you shall dance in the heavens
And together we shall enjoy the abundance that our love has provided us with.

A wonderful love story, Ralph. Well written as always.
Beautifully written, Ralph – the deepest expression of the love you wrote, is so eternally powerful.
Ralph, I saw this come up on the random romantic poetry and just had to read again – it is beautiful and one of my favorites.
Thanks Phyllis – ironically this piece is also one of my favorites
