In Love’s Beginning…a touch

Beginning …

Love's Beginning
In Love’s Beginning…a touch

Beginning with a touch…

Who touches a heart
is but a heart to be touched,
a recognition of intent and favor,
like moth to light, invariably drawn
to love’s sweet acceptance.

And in eyes the secret,
the depth of acceptance,
that words cannot breach, cannot explain,
when eyes first meet
and love a song of warm refrain.

Momentary stillness becomes
like a stumble of feet,
a resetting of thought,
when love’s possibility confronts and in awe,
pauses life like time stood still.

Then words spill,
fall from speechless lips,
yearning, trying to find a long lost line
to entreat further conversation, a rhyme
to appease this flush of heart rendering warmth.

Gazing eyes now falter, and
embarrassed skin doesn’t lie,
just fumbled looks and gazes try,
like patchwork thoughts, confused,
desperate to hold this beauty and not let go.

Then a touch, a gesture,
calms hearts to settle,
and exchanged the words of sanity,
the hearts of ecstasy’s possibility,
to begin the path of love’s centripetal reign.
