The Republic of Perpetual Outrage

Outrage, outrage!
Get your daily dose of anti‑everything!
Shouting, pointing, watch out now the rage is forming
Maybe it’s him, maybe her, maybe either, maybe neither
Target acquired, the Republic is in our sights!

Words blurred and broken from the horns and noise
Outrage brewing beneath the froth of rehearsed fury
It’s protest time, now get in line!
Form the ranks, take your place, spread it out, fill the space!
Until the shout – “Hey, hey, what’s the cause today?”

Doesn’t matter—just wait for the cue, that’s what we do, wait for the cue
The signs are inbound, pre‑printed and paid
Straight from the warehouse of you know who
Banner lifters, chant readers, rhythm keepers
What job will you do today?

This street belongs to us, we’re the mob
Told what flag to raise today, what words to say, like everyday
The villain of the day, or maybe the hour
And here’s the expiration date before the next outrage drops
Watch the line, there’s the cops

Lock your arms, brothers, sisters, and all the rest
Cameras up! Video on! We are right, they are wrong!
Dirty sneakers the modern-day jackboot
Calling them exactly what we are
It’s the new age of oppression, and it’s just getting started

Everyone, condemn the enforcers for enforcing,
Stop them from doing their job, surround their cars, we are the mob
Protect the guilty, yes you heard me, protect the guilty
Grifters, thieves, and criminals need free
I don’t understand, luckily, I don’t need to see

Barricades and no-go zones, we’re taking over this place
If we can’t steal it, or claim it, then we break it
Burn, burn, watch it burn, it’s symbolic to the cause
Property is replaceable, just ask us, we’ll agree
Move along, nothing to see!

Wave another nations flag, call your leaders traitors
Support the terror nations, why? Because we said so
Puppet masters pulling strings, but why so many wonder
Follow the money, follow the power
It’s the same thing as it’s always been

Professional marchers holding signs
A sea of interchangeable silhouettes shouting borrowed lines
Perpetual outrage aimed at the very place that feeds them
Educates them, protects them
A country that grants the freedom to hate it loudly and proudly

Those who know, they know how this goes
Manufactured fury is a product, traded on the open market
Sold wholesale to the discontented, just to watch them play
The team might be playing in the gutters
But the captains were chosen long ago

The old Republic fades into static.
Digital warriors sharpen their words,
Gaslighting becomes a blood sport,
Grievance becomes currency in this new marketplace
Where victimhood yields the highest return

Blue haired, green haired, unwashed masses
Pasty blobs of useless noise emerging from the suburbs
Betas and basement dwellers, gamers and dreamers
Flower holders and slumping shoulders
The nationless, and park bench sleepers

Different voices that speak the same
Forgotten how to do that thinking thing
Minds controlled by professors and players
Influencers who happily earn to entertain
Cancellation before comprehension

“Look at me! Agree with me!
Do as I say until someone else scripts the next line.”
Rebrand, remake, rename – domestic life becomes taboo,
Raising children a relic, a family a crime
Cancel, cancel, cancel

To build the brave new world
We must erase the ones who remember
Grind the ashes of the old world
Take our places, get in line, we are the mob
A mob of pawns that can easily be replaced

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.
