The Loving Peace of Christmas Noise
Seasons change with celebrations
As they have for generations
Families gather, despite divides
Disparate thoughts now put aside
Tidings glad, intentions real
Echoes of the turning wheel
Empty branches, winter nights
Moments bathed in candle light
Frozen earth in dormant sleep
Nature rests, her peace so deep
Silent steps ‘neath crescent moon
Drifts of white, the festive dunes
Giving thanks and being thankful
Drifting flakes, nights so tranquil
Across the way, lights ‘a twinkling
Slivers glint as if they’re winking
Wispy winds carry resinous pine
Nature’s scent does ring divine
Footsteps mark the blanket white
And angel wings a common sight
Snowmen stand in silent march
Arms of branch a shadowed arch
Garlands twist on lamplight posts
Distant sounds of Christmas’ ghosts
How frosty air finds rosy cheeks
Rolling down from mountain peaks
Singing voices on the avenue
Such joy and hope they do infuse
While shoppers dart and carry on
Hours few until the dawn
Silent night and family time
Reading of the Christmas rhyme
Until at last the hour comes
Then thoughts escape to sugar plums
Winter quilts and pillows call
A winter sleep for one and all
Colored paper and fancy bows
What’s inside, of course he knows
Lengthy list been checked now twice
Few were naughty, most others nice
Stillness found in darkest night
The jolly elf, his worldly flight
Windows glow with candlelight
Magical, both warm and bright
Hours pass with slumbers deep
Nothing stirs, no not a peep
Winter pine with gifts below
The star atop a soothing glow
Picturesque, this moment dear
The calm before the morning cheer
When paper flies, the children’s eyes
Are filled with joy, emotions high
It’s warm inside, despite the weather
Laughing, toasting, all together
Old and young are gathered ‘round
The sound of love is what they’ve found
Tiny ones, still wrapped in swaddle
Children grand, all smiles and cuddles
Gam Gam’s, Pop Pops, their girls and boys
The loving peace of Christmas noise
