A Light To Guide Us Through The Storm

Hither has and never knowing

How the winds of change are blowing

Tis nigh, tis now, the founding moment

An epic clash found two opponents

Gathered alms and wretched ranks

Tithers call thy hammered banks

Haunting hunters with ghastly quivers

Elder shadows cast icy shivers

Greasy suits and grimy paws

Licking chops and open maws

Once focused arms in deft salute

Whenst seconds tick that proves them moot

Archaic goblins in ranks on hills

Squabble, cobble, giveth nil

Robust fruit that conjures rot

Tis anxious patch with ill-born shot

Nightly trysts with arrows fierce

Vestments hold without such pierce

Soon the crux, the moment fleeting

A balance nay, a tip and teeting

Hours wage, not fit to wager

Sanctions ordered onward major

Giveth none but pray for morn

Pockets wait to be adorned

Empty coffers and bolts at few

Arrested waiting, the dueling two

Murky seas and shores uncharted

Purchase grants but one so hearted

Depth in width and sourced in fear

Yet checkered standards hold in clear

Acridic smoke seems pulled to earth

Contending stewed to what is worth

Bladed poles now tipped with red

Staggered slips and coming dread

Shattering then, that ill-gained norm

Dusting winds find chaos form

Yet vanquish flights of fancy forth

Justice lost now back on course

Tables in the temples crushed

While bloodied troops the light of just

Emergence from the tangled wood

Vengeance wrapped with future good

Robes and vestments a single color

Anxious cries from pseudo scholars

Inflated minds and empty traits

Measured flesh demanding rates

Silence bid the viscous cast

Criers words lost to the past

Wronging weight, a broken yoke

Sleepers pass the modish woke

Walls shored and civic measured

Founding words again are treasure

Bringeth forth the new found norm

A light to guide us through the storm

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.
