Just Walking and Talking with Jesus
Just Walking and Talking with Jesus …
There are times,
when the blues,
come upon me, so discovered a great way –
to make my day.
Venture out into nature,
pick a path,
that brings contentment.
Venture forth with Jesus by your side,
down the path I go,
I see laughing children at play.
Jesus, I say what a joy it is,
to see them all so happy.
I don’t expect an answer,
but I know my companion,
is surely listening
and that is enough for me.
We walk on,
on both sides of the road,
tTrees are whispering,
in the gentle breeze
and I say,
Jesus how wonderful it is,
that when the wind blows through the trees,
it’s as if they have found a voice.
I can hear their whispers
and even if I don’t understand,
it makes me feel so much closer –
to the mighty trees.
Soon birds fill the skies
and I look at their majestic flight.
They spread their wings
and soar with ease.
Jesus how great it is,
That you’ve created birds
that can soar to the highest heights,
which I can never achieve.
The sun grows a bit warmer
and I can imagine,
my understanding and patient companion –
smiling at me.
Down by the river,
where the Daugava flows swiftly,
I see upon the choppy waves,
seagulls bobbing.
I say, Jesus how lovely the river looks,
sun reflecting tiny diamonds on the water.
The seagulls in contentment,
dancing upon the waves.
Wonder what it would be like,
if I could join them,
perhaps become light as a feather
and dance across the river,
As always I marvel at the clouds,
there up above,
sailing across the skies –
in different shapes and sizes.
Jesus how wonderful it is,
to gaze at the clouds,
I see so many wondrous things there –
sometimes people, sometimes creatures.
Jesus could it be,
that when I see faces,
they are those of my dear ones –
Looking down on me?
We move onwards
and soon I’m back home.
Suddenly my mood has changed
and a burden has been lifted.
I feel good again
and I say, thank you, Jesus,
for taking the time,
to walk and talk with me for a while.
Never expecting to get an answer.
I know He understands.
but then the clouds shift
and a brighter warmer light appears.
I know my companion,
has heard all I’ve said,
I know He’s glad I found the comfort –
I needed through Him.
