Dodoitsu on Water

Dodoitsu on Water
I
Feel rain from under these clouds
or water by the river
or waves of salt on the beach
these are roads to sea.
Great whales of Earth in oceans
ocean’s salty cold water
to pick up fluids with a spoon
like fine river sand.
Sailboat on breeze
a forward ray upon wave
to break crest at eye level
majestic and spined.
Drop of water on amber
veins on fruit bending a stem
to pull weight past infancy
larger than a pea.
Water movement of plummage
on purple Blackberry Bush
trampled by a lone Grizzly
bear enjoys the rain.
Birds away and back again
fly on moss near dung beetle
caravan of ants on wall
lake of freshwater.
II
The arched wing of a seagull
away birds sail off cliff
sudden flurry near the sun
moving starts on glass.
Trading precious time for tide
run in water with straw shoes
flying fishscale the surface
wet song about love.
The edge of a foaming creek
put a finger in water
put a foot into the pond
slap waters surface.
Pebble falls into still pool
each ripple melancholy
minnow quickly swim away
nature shouts three times.
Music from running water
deer trails covered with thick mud
every track overfilled
a lone Mud Skipper.
After climbing through thicket
and bounding over boulders
one must lay down near flowers
and drink cold water.
III
To heap stones along a stream
damn up fresh water creek
in hopes to start collection
of some poetry.
This year of water poets
emerging from the deep wave
covered in dark green sea weed
to wait for a word.
Truckee river near Reno
near Sierra Mountain Range
great valley below Tahoe
drained, planted, watered.
Rivers from Desolation
from melted snow cap mountains
the loneliest peak of all
will provide water.
Water flowing to one place
constant cycle Earth and Sky
rain bring an end to this drought
finally thin fresh paint.
Sea bottom shell and coral
warm water Florida Beach
spend as much time in water
as necessary.
