Our Night Our Time: by Beth Butler
Our Night, Our Time …
It comes forth once more,
The tenth of the year bringing darkness and nightmares,
Cruel delights and wicked cackles.
The witching hour approaches full of mind tingling misfortunes.
Full of maggot coated confectionery,
And bodies rising from the soils.
This night has arrived when the oddities prance,
To the ones that pump blood through their veins
Feeling like brooding outsiders in their own skin.
And the no longer with us lying rested upon disturbed mounds,
Not forgetting about the half-baked, undead unsure kind of ones,
Their Brains transformed into a squelchy mush.
From howling creatures roam on all fours racing in the forests.
To pale and complex blood smeared upon their face type of beings.
Oh, hail to our time in the darkness.
OH, HAIL DEVILS NIGHT.
