“Already There”

Before I head out to another “Somewhere”…

Can you tell me how do you get to “Already There”?

I’m really not sure if anyone is that much aware…

That we are all working very hard to get somewhere…

Just to find out that we barely made it…on a wing and a prayer…

But here you are…and you’ve been through a lot…but mostly…you’ve been there.

I have found myself “Already There”…at the point that I arrived…

I pondered my life ’til now…at times that have been contrived…

And, each momentous point where I recalled that I strived…

Yet, the reality was more real than anything ever prescribed…

Where dull and ambiguous thoughts I’ve encountered…go to subside…

To see that I’ve found myself “Already There”…when I know how hard I’ve tried.

I’ve finally reached a point…in this Time and Space…

Where I finally know the Man…I see in the Mirror…when I see his face…

One who has reached a point…or finally come to a place…

Where he can say it’s time to slow down…for the rest of this race…

And lay to rest…thoughts, dreams, and desires…long gone…It’s now time to erase…

To move to a place that is “Already There”…that I’ve reached without leaving a trace.

I told myself I was “Already There”…but then I might’ve lied…

I tried to think…to make it clear…but in myself…I could not confide…

And thought to search for more that was there…but yet….I could not decide…

“Oh…for what more is there?”…I looked up above and with a shout I cried…

But, found no answer to help me get there…I might get there…that fact…I can not hide…

One thing about my introspection for being “Already There”…is it was bonafide.

To find yourself “Already There”…equates to a feeling that is magical…

Words used can express themselves…but quickly become almost prodigal…

Jumping around to make a point for a Poet is almost methodical…

Tapping into writings that have become known…can almost be mythological…

And, exceed in an abundance of wisdom that presses past the logical…

Trying to explain that I am “Already There”…is merely just symbolical.

(Just in case your wondering…I chose the top image to the Poem because It’s OK for Time to stop for me…I’m “Already There”.)

Almost like a sense of calm can rush over you, because you are already there. Perhaps a sense of fulfillment or the accomplishing of life’s work, that feeling of already there must feel pretty good. Intriguing work Steve, I like it

Time to be who you are and where you are. Always have faith in yourself. I really like this poem, Steve. Well done.

Amen to that, Phyllis! At some point you have to figure that everything you tried or did to get you to this point in time…has gotten you to this point in time. You can now breathe…you can now adjust yourself to your current position within your environment. You may or may not have “made it”. But, by every definition that you know…within yourself…you’re “Already There”! Thanks for reading this one and for your comment.

Thank you for reading this one about “Already There”, Paul. This writing comes from times spent working, looking for the future, and trying to pay to keep up with things…with a lot of help from the Lord. All of these have gotten me to this conclusion (a long time coming…for sure). But, it took an enormous amount of energy spent…in all directions…along the way…to reach this conclusion. So, this Poem comes from the Heart and tries to keep it real. Just a moment in time captured down in words that I try hard to hang on to! You know how it is when you write…you try to accurately capture a moment…a feeling. Thanks for the comment!

Steve I just turned fifty yesterday. In my mind it means nothing but I guess in reality I am over the hill. Ha Ha. So I am waking up with a tremendous sweets and treats hangover this morning, too much celebration of life I guess, and I am reading your poem. All be damned if your words were the same thoughts running through my mind the week before the birthday. What does it mean? Who knows but I can say that poetry is an awesome force in this universe. Poetry…is an awesome force! If only…everyone out there could see past the day to day headlines and front end cap novels…and see that Poems get the words out there too. Often using more “wit” then the day to day stuff we see and hear. And perhaps…maybe…more people get that than ever before…!? (not sure) I think I wrote this one while “hung-over” on sweets…so that is probably the key to the words being similar in thought…Ha! I eat too many sweets…my own self. Hang in there…50 is the new 30…only because I like the 50’s better than the 30’s. (Absolutely…no research was done to come to this conclusion…it’s just a thought.) There comes a point…I hope in everyone’s life…that we stop chasing dreams and covering up the reality that we may already be there. In any case…perhaps a belated happy birthday wish…may be in order…and much thanks for reading this one and for commenting upon it. Regards.

I really enjoyed reading this poem, Steve. You have written it so beautifully. I especially enjoyed reading these lines from your poem :

    “I’ve finally reached a point…in this Time and Space…

Where I finally know the Man…I see in the Mirror…when I see his face…

One who has reached a point…or finally come to a place…

Where he can say it’s time to slow down…for the rest of this race…”

Loved it all! Thanks for sharing, Steve. It’s always a pleasure reading your poems. I’ve been away for a while, and I’m sure I’ve missed a lot of works by our fellow authors here.

    Best wishes and Blessings!!

Misbah…Well, Welcome back…and I have to say that may the writings on TCE…never stop! Glad you enjoyed my perspectives on “Already There”…where one can begin to slow down and sense that everything he thought he was working towards was only an illusion…because this person is finally beginning to get it through his thick skull…that he may already be there…and can stop worrying about what tomorrow may bring. (Well…at least in theory…Ha!) Thank you for reading this one and for commenting upon it. Be Blessed as well. Regards.

Great writing! Sometimes we wonder what we’ve done in life and if it was/is worthwhile. How can we tell? Thing is, if we’re already there, then what do we do now? More to get to the next ‘there’…
This was great fun, well written and really got me thinking, Steve. Thanks for the thought-provoker!

Thing is…we are “Already There”! Like you said. A constant…in an ever-revolving World that we (especially Me) try to figure out daily. But, ultimately…if we/or “One” can take in a deep breath. They will ultimately figure out…that wherever they are at…they’re “Already There”…Ha! Thank you so much for reading this one and for your great comment, Ann! Glad it was great fun. Humble Regards.
