A Toolbox for the Job
A TOOLBOX FOR THE JOB
I
A man who wants perfection must have tools
in toolbox for the job he wishes done
this task, or job, is not for anyone
well practiced and familiar with the rules.
Conduct this business as a love affair
circumstance in deep inspiring night
follow the heart as drive for what is right
work for disciplined focus of our care.
The story of our lives exerts a spell
a rushing well of rhymes renews themselves
and seek to charm and bring our thoughts to sight.
To never find ourselves with empty well
or lack of food for counter on our shelves
though life is pain we can take out the fight.
II
Our age will find we are still young at heart
as we all journey out on the first day
open our mouths and have so much to say
the young, the old, have never been apart.
But please we must have less talk more action
for lesser Gods on Earth will cause dismay
for years I wore emotion on display
to break away from old chain reaction.
To grasp each day with a hard iron grip
instead of Beetle flying into wall
in destructive repetitive motion.
I am wide arm to embrace authorship
no longer with a fear that I may fall
no longer living with a slight notion.
III
Spend the morning working through Geothe’s Faust
this fine art of sun gives strength to Angel
to calm my nerves and put away cudgel
a flame within me is properly doused.
These words have come not only to accuse
that fellow poets give me compassion
when conformity is all the fashion
to teach knowledge with love and no abuse.
To pray my desires are not vanity
my energy to love, not earthly wealth
but helping our bound spirits rise to light.
To hope one poem returns sanity
and stay at everyone’s side till good health
when morning comes to open eyes to sight.

Good stuff here Jamie, very much enjoyed. Keep it up!!!
Well done on the phrasing, Jamie. Good read.
Looks like you found the right “Toolbox” for the job of writing your words as you take as through the journey that you’re experiencing while embracing “authorship”. Interestingly…it seems you’re finding inspiration in a tale that is summarized as a “tragedy”. A very intertwined piece of work, Jamie. Enjoyed reading it and enjoyed commenting on how best to describe this Poem!
