Are We Having Fun Yet
The world keeps spinning faster
and people seem to get much nastier.
No one has time for anyone else
and I have to ask –
Are we having fun yet?
The maniac on the corner
just shot four or five.
He said the devil made him do it,
but tell that to those who died.
Are we having fun yet?
Ironic isn’t it –
that another bomb
has destroyed a hundred lives or so.
Taken the innocent,
who had so much more to live.
Are we having fun yet?
Open up the online news,
some crazy fool
has driven down a little child.
Of course, it took talent,
to have had five shots of whiskey before.
Are we having fun yet?
Another fool is yelling for money,
says the government –
stole and put him into bankruptcy.
No business, no money, no family,
but the congressmen are sitting,
in the Bahamas having a blast,
not a thought about the past.
The email came today,
I’ve won a million,
just pass along my private information,
to see that money in my bank flow,
those spammers sure know –
that there are too many fools in this world.
Are we having fun yet?
When will this craziness stop?
When will people say enough?
When will this world ever learn
to live in peace and harmony?
so no more lives are lost
and people can be saved.
Prayers answered and countries
sparking flames of love,
all across the globe –
only then we’ll be having fun,
beneath this sun.

I liked this Free Verse Poem…A lot! “Hey, Are We Having Fun, Yet…Ok, Not really with all the “schtuff” that has been going on for a while now.” What does the Congressman care about the past while he is down in the Bahamas having a blast…(Laughing). That was great. Classic words. Loved this Poem!
Thank you, Steve and glad you enjoyed this, The world has really gotten to me lately, I hope you have a wonderful new year.
You deliver a powerful and important message in this poem, Rasma. Stop the world and let me off please, It stopped being fun quite awhile ago. I wish we could turn back time and go back a few years when it was fun.
So true, John. Back to the good old days which seem to be fast fading from memory with each new hit, I hope you’re having a good start to the new year.
Hi Rasma! Great to see you here. This is hard-hitting and it sums up perfectly how I think of the world on a bad day. I do wonder what is becoming of it all. Covid aside, there is so much going on that makes my heart sink. So much materialism and governments who don’t seem to care about their people (including ours), though they say different. We are living in a world that makes excuses for everyone but sets us up for racism and inequality – I don’t understand it.
On a lighter note – I hope you have a wonderful 2022 and that it brings a much more positive outlook than last year. I’m the eternal optimist but even I have doubts which I must rise above.
I’m trying to write more on this site, having joined some time ago, so I must try harder, as the teachers say!
Keep safe and well!
Ann
Hello Ann, I too hope you have a much brighter and better 2022. Let us keep positive and hope things work out for the best this year, Keep safe
Nice work Rasma. Politicians are too into themselves to care about things like homelessness. So many atrocities have occurred in the past few years. Hypocrites pleading for sheep to follow. Also I agree with Ann’s comments materialism is evil, not the money, what people do with it, how it grasps control, craziness. Don’t know about you but I’m done with covid and listening to people who are only in it for the money not to help the world. I wish we could take a breathe from this, hopefully tha time will come soon. Good work. ~Paul

Thank you, Paul and I agree with you,
Rasma this is a new type of writing for you and I approve! Not that my approval is necessary but I enjoy how honest you are and how real. Well done. Jamie
