What is Creativity?
I’m brainstorming, so don’t expect anything
That you are used to seeing
Everything has been tussled and trundled
Not going down but not up either
Random thoughts from an open mind
Going over the steps from within
But the route is always changing
I spent many years training myself
To look at things differently than anyone else
On the fringe, but just barely sometimes
That’s the way to open doors
The trick is to understand that what you see
Might not be what you wanted it to be
I like to think that people want to have fun
So I paint things with a colorful brush
That’s the spark to me, and my creativity
I feed the fire with other things
Like perspective and singularity
Narrowing things to a single molecule
And then back to universal expectations
See the potential where everyone else sees obstacles
It’s like hurdling through a coloring book
It’s O.K. to color outside of the lines,
Just make sure you stay on the page
Making sure to keep your sanity
And not get lost in the abyss
Where your creativity gets stifled
Changed through surrendering your brain
To one of the five deadly diseases
The tunnel vision of Internal Myopia
Or the dreaded Ostrich Syndrome
Refusing to acknowledge roadblocks
Hoping they somehow just go away
Or hardening ourselves until we cease to dream
Psycho Sclerosis slowly closing of the mind
Or when we stop listening to what’s being said
And replacing it with an echo chamber
That’s known as Feedback Immunity
But the worst affliction
One that can be an addiction
Where we stop the process
It’s a horrid case of Expertitis
Shudder to think that any of these
Could ruin my creativity
Luckily I haven’t lost my desire
To keep my open eyes seeing
And my open heart believing what I see

Well said Ralph. Reasons for creativity seem to be many but you have described your creativity well. Jamie
Nice work on this Ralph. I love your creativity and uniqueness. I may suffer from many things but I don’t think “expertitis” is one of them lol.
