My Secret Garden

My Secret Garden  is a healing place.

secret garden

My secret garden is ever so near,
yet only I know how to find it,
for it is within the deepest part of me
where I go for solitude and prayer.

A willow tree stands in the center,
a beautiful lily pond gently whispers
when a breeze skims over the water
where it catches glints of sunshine.

Long thin branches reach down to kiss
the cool water and softly drops a leaf
as a token of friendship and love
to journey with the flow of life.

Wildflowers grow beyond the pond
where bees buzz happily in sunshine,
butterflies dart from flower to flower
and hummingbirds enjoy nectar of nature.

I sit in the cool shade of the willow
and ponder on life as memories
of days gone by float around me,
memories of loved ones and sharing secrets.

My mind goes over all the years
of growing up with four brothers
and two sisters, the fun we had
and the times we stood by each other.

Each sibling is special to me,
each have their own unique identity,
we all form a bond of love and caring,
a bond of eternal connection.

Today I go to my secret garden
to be with the spirit of my elder sister
who left us suddenly two weeks ago.
Now she dries my tears and comforts me.

I find peace in my secret garden,
where I am able to abide quietly,
remember good times and loved ones,
and heal.

I have always liked to write. It is important to me that writing comes from my heart and soul. When writing poetry, if I do not feel a spiritual connection to what I am writing on, I will discard it and go on to something I can connect with on a spiritual level. I live in the moment, I write from the past or beyond the veil. When writing fiction I go with whatever inspires me at the moment - it could be funny, sorrowful, romantic or sometimes done with the use of colloquial language from mountain folk or other cultural regions. I began writing content online in 2007, starting with BellaOnline - A Voice For Women, where I was the Native American Editor, Folklore & Mythology Editor, and the Appalachian Editor. I also wrote articles for The Examiner, Daily Two Cents, and Yahoo. I am a freelance writer for Fiverr. I am currently an author on HubPages, a member/author of the Maven Coalition, and Senior Editor and an author for The Creative Exiles. Most of what I write takes a lot of research and I love it. Even if it is a fictional story, I will research for accuracy in whatever it takes to make my characters, their era, their location, etc. become realistic to the reader. I hope you enjoy my works. Thank you for visiting.
