The Reawakening Wind
The traveling wind,
blew wild and strong,
it carried me away,
because I could not stay,
with my feet firmly planted on the ground
and took me to gardens always on my mind,
where the reawakening wind –
brought memories of days gone by.
It carried me along,
to stands of birches,
scented evergreens,
country roads,
shadowy forests,
making my mind reel
and to springtimes with lilacs blossoming.
It was a reawakening wind,
that blew about me,
ruffled my hair,
whispered in my ear –
So you remember still?
It was a friendly wind,
that carried me to long-forgotten gardens,
where apple trees blossomed –
where once I found true love.
It made me feel as if I was flying through the skies
and you were by my side,
hand in hand among the clouds –
flying with the birds passing by.
It was a reawakening wind,
filing my heart with old familiar songs,
reminding me of the days that were left behind,
along life’s path
and long-forgotten things –
that made me once again smile.
