Lost Paradise
Lost Paradise
A forlorn garden,
abandoned and bare,
wilted and brown flowers,
dying bushes and shrubs,
a lost paradise –
that once flourished and bloomed.
Looking down upon this sight,
tall trees and evergreens,
always full of life,
left behind,
refreshed by the rains
and the snow,
that nature provides –
sorrowing that no one cares.
Once there was life,
there was color and the scent of flowers,
there was happiness
and people delighted,
in the pleasures of this garden,
until no one came any more
and it all withered and died –
a lost paradise longing to live once more.
Came the day,
when the first rays of the spring sun,
found a green sprig,
and shined down its love.
The sprig began to grow
and soon this lost paradise,
found more and more life –
it began to live again.
Came a gardener,
who saw the green beneath the brown leaves,
saw the beauty where there had been none.
He nurtured and tended
and renewed life –
of all that could be saved.
Then he planted new flowers
and cut back the rose bushes,
the April rains did all the rest
and by May this lost paradise,
was in full bloom again.
The green trees tops,
with newly sprung leaves,
along with the evergreens,
happily waved in the breeze,
squirrels scampered and played,
birds flew upon the branches,
and sang songs of praise,
for this beautiful garden –
once again so full of love.
