Flying Through Life
Flying Through Life …
We fly into this world,
from somewhere unknown,
the day we are born,
we soon are fading again
and so we begin flying through life.
We fly away from family,
seeking friends in the world we’ve created,
we never know where we are going,
but we know where we’ve been.
We fly back home,
when the world closes in
and when the feelings get ever strong,
sometimes like birds thrown from a nest –
we might never want to fly away again.
We fly our whole lives through,
like butterflies across summer skies,
seasons come and go,
for so many reasons,
we search for someone –
to fly by our side.
Deep in lonely nights,
we long to have someone beside us,
in our thoughts we fly,
to happier times,
to family and friends
and these special memories,
take us soaring so high,
to the places –
stored forever in our hearts.
Once we’ve found a true love,
we find that we can fly free,
fly free through the skies,
loving one another,
until the day one of us flies to paradise,
leaving the other behind,
then we know to wait,
for when we take that final flight,
to be with the one we love –
forever somewhere in paradise.

Thank you for a wonderful poem Rasma. I am reminded of my teenage son and how he is starting to open his wings and Dad is afraid of his flight. Jamie
Don’t worry Jamie as long as you are beside him and ready to offer advice he will be all right.
