A Collection of Poetry on Biking

A Collection of Poetry on Biking
1.) Biking
Even though we felt the chill in spring air
we all zipped up our jackets to our chin
so hard to snap our helmets with a grin
and through windswept faces a laugh we share.
I know soon you will be off these training wheels
and I am struck with a certain sadness
that to the chilly wind I do confess
you ride off, me pedaling at your heels.
You will ride to the end of the hill,
so far ahead that my sound can’t be heard
hoping you’ve stopped at the end of the block
but knowing you’ll ride till you get your fill
and these things will probably be as I feared
you will notice I am gone after the shock.
2.) Family Bike Ride Limerick
First day the weather gave us a chance
grabbed up our bikes without a second glance
not riding anywhere
except into spring air
our taking off like the Tour de France.
With baby thrown into the trailer
I peddle as my son becomes blur
and hopefully with luck
won’t need to get my truck
to deal with multiple flat tires.
Through the wind with our streamline helmets
getting rid of our long winter fits
each and every new ride
we hit the road and glide
this really is as good as it gets.
3.) Four Haiku About My Daughter’s Third Birthday
We hovered in woods
where hid a secret swing set
gathered family
There in the trees shade
we witnessed the wind move clouds
grey and full of rain
Through a ray of sun
you smiled at all your presents
and fought off the grey
Feet on your new bike
pedaled faster and faster
into a new year.
4.) Einstein’s Bicycle
that Einstein and his bicycle
would be very hard to part,
his bike was to ride him to relativity,
his wheels turned, forging new paths, straightening out this curved little ditty.

I really enjoy your biking poems Jamie. Reminded me that my biking days began in the countryside when I was sat upon an old bike and told to just keep pedaling.
Thank you Rasma. Jamie
A thoroughly enjoyable collection of bike poems, Jamie. Good job.
