Sunburn Limerick

SUNBURN LIMERICK
I
As swimmers our clothing is smaller
even worse for those standing taller
more skin surface in sun
without sunblock you’re done,
from friendly public service caller.
A burn of a fellow named Randall
shot sparks like fire from Roman Candle
his red back in demand
for the color was grand
but he found it too hot to handle.
There is a young man named bob
who explained to his friends with a sob
my butt cheeks are red
there’s no more to be said
when I reach for the bathroom doorknob.
So my daughter she finds it funny
to go outside when it is sunny
and not wear her sunblock
to try to play with luck
she won’t burn if I offer money.
II
Once a younger lady at Tahoe
who forgot to sunblock for a row
now she’s red as lobster
a color that’s obscure
yet will make her stand out for the show.
There is a young man born her brother
who just sat in the sun beside her
now his back is in pain
how like stripped candy cane
each new red spot is bound to blister.
They head home with new “oohs” and “aahs”
a new pain from the sun is the cause
this will take time to heal
within days it will peel
it is hard to resist with our paws.
So there’s nothing funny about burns
when our humor is least of concerns
thanks to you anapest
I hope giggles protest
as our laughter, it slowly returns.
There are those who will be offended
those who have been recently reddened
I just want to help out
cause your smile is a pout
when your life, due to burn, seems ended.
Then your skin seems to peel in the night
when your position is never right
you befriend Aloe Plant
your lotion never scant
you will stand, never give up the fight.

Absolutely delightful. My sunburn days are long a thing of the past. I no longer sit in full sun I always have some shade.
Well done, Jamie, on these nicely penned limericks. Sunburns are not fun!
Thank you Rasma and Phyllis. Jamie
