Summer’s Serenade

Summer’s Serenade …

summer's serenade

I hear the trills,

of birds in the trees.

All of nature feeling so free –

singing summer’s serenade.

I see flowers,

blooming everywhere,

colorful butterflies –

flying here and there.

The sun playing with shadows,

as tall trees,

wave in the breeze,

simple summer living easy and free.

Rivers with sparkling ripples,

dappled by the sun’s rays,

glittering under the sun,

as ducks and gulls play.

Silent and still lakes,

that mirror reflections,

broken only by summer winds –

that blow over the surface.

The sweet lullaby,

of the waves rushing in from the sea,

love letters we write in the sand,

that get washed away but remain in our hearts.

Grassy paths,

that stretch long and far,

under brilliant blue skies,

as clouds roll by,

Summer living,

just dancing along with the breeze,

nature in harmony –

bees flitting from flower to flower.

Mornings wet with dew,

afternoons so golden,

purple dusk as evening comes –

another night of stargazing.

The moon and the stars,

light up the sky,

owls hoot in the night

and nightingales add their song –

to summer’s serenade.

Summer has a rhythm,

all it’s very own.

It’s a joy just to part of it all,

dancing along fields and meadows –

to summer’s serenade.
