Composition in the Key of G
Composition in the Key of G
1.) A Tender Composition
From a violin
a sound when the bow is moved
skillfully forward.
Then the solemn tone
the masterful blow of horn
auditorium.
Local symphony
dedicated musicians
will practice alone.
A hush has fallen
the cellist drawn bow
followed by a pluck.
Change to Andante
slowing down for the flutist
a brilliant bird song.
2.) In the Key of G
All the instruments
fall into their proper place
reaching perfection.
This polyphony
this small chamber orchestra
directed with love.
A list of our firsts
the first time the trumpet sound
a somber night cry.
So many things heard
a tender composition
a labor of love.
Some tears may fall down
from music’s passionate joy
lost in G Minor.
3.) All The Instruments
When our eyes are closed
the sound of the strings will flow
a river of sound.
From the balcony
surrounded by wings of sound
a moment of joy.
Let us not forget
the moment piano plays
everyone listens.
Play in Allegro
all these listed instruments
raise all our spirits.
As a summer stream
some waves of sound have crested
some waves now trickle.
4.) Finding Place in Our Dreams
Again and again
ending opens Giosco
bodily return.
Music in our day
finding a place in our dreams
makes the difference.
Or sultry sax
lost upon a lonely path
before the others.
Whether surrounded
in glorious open space
or in a closed room.
Our ears will learn pitch
our minds will be opened wide
by angelic hums.
5.) Each Key Signature
Then one bass drum booms
silence except piccolo
as if a small bird.
Each key signature
each interplay in perfect time
rare times of balance.
One hears the bassist
follow the philharmonic
leading into strings.
A lively tempo
immediate excitement
a moment to dance.
6.) A Stroll Down Memory Lane
Into a scherzo
as rain dropping on some stones
letting loose madness.
With each woodwind voice
a stroll down memory lane
sound as a release.
A percussive dance
or a dreamy twirling waltz
collective stories.
If lucky a harp
will bring color to the air
a dip in water.

Very cleverly composed Haiku sets. Well done, Jamie.
Thank you Phyllis. Do you drink tea? Jamie
All your verses are very nicely written. I enjoyed reading them.
Cleverly composed. Oh how I love music, i especially love orchestral music. The way each note is carefully placed as to give off the impression of something else, a singing bird, a broken heart, a bout of joy, someone running in place, music is such a majestic property. I wish I could play again, i really enjoyed my time in the band. Nice Haiku as always Jamie.
Thank you Yasmin and Paul for taking the time to read and leaving kind engaging comments much appreciated. Jamie
