Age Doesn’t Matter
In this world.
age doesn’t matter,
we are only as old as we feel
and if we wish we can just,
let our body clock –
move back through all the years.
We are unstoppable.
During childhood, we feel,
that the laughter and play,
will never end –
like whirring dervishes were we.
But the teen years come
and we feel like the world,
is this one wonderful dream.
We can’t wait to get older,
to love, to go our own way –
dancing to a rock and roll beat.
Young adulthood,
hits us like a freight train,
like heavy rain.
Responsibility comes quickly
and working life’s no real fun,
but if we’re lucky,
we make more friends –
along our everyday way.
Dreams of family,
love and marriage,
if we get it all together,
we have a pretty good deal.
Keeping our dreams alive,
dancing in the rain –
we were invincible.
The best we can hope for,
is a really good life,
as the years march on,
if we find our one true love,
we can watch our children,
grow up and share the joys –
of the days as they come and go. .
Once the children have gone,
we have grandchildren to look forward to
and as the twilight years come on,
that’s when we realize –
age really doesn’t matter at all.
We now can step back,
through time,
take the hand of our love –
become like teenagers once more.
After all why not?
You’ve gone through all the worries and trails,
now it’s time to enjoy,
so we let the years roll back
and find the time,
to have a great deal of fun,
never looking back,
plenty of memories that shine,
as long as you’re still mine,
then we can go on,
love and have a whole lot of fun –
still dancing in the rain.

So true, Rasma – age really does not matter. Wonderful, inspirational poetry.
Thank you, Phyllis.
I totally agree, Rasma. We are only as old as we feel and if we are still in love and enjoy life in our later years let’s turn those years back and act like children again.
You have the right idea, John. The best thing is we no longer have parents to answer to we just do what we feel is right for us.
Beautiful Rasma , You are right about all of this , Beautiful photo too , it reminds me of the boundless energy of children and as I watch them play and remember back , I am amazed at how much energy they spend just doing nothing sometimes .
We don’t get to know many who were in love from childhood but once in a while …………….
Thank you, Ed. I was inspired by the fact that when I thought back on the things I enjoyed doing as a child I can still do today.
Beautiful poetry Rasma. Jamie
Thank you, Jamie.
