Insanity Politics
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.
They cause a tiff on guns and arms
They talk about our biased ways
Our souls they’ve caught, with bait and charm,
Then tell us that we cannot pray
Remove that God from schools right now,
His evil is of ceaseless shame.
His pagan love is not allowed,
Belief is just a structured claim
They tell us to divide our lines
And find a seat inside the hall
To muse our words, so genuine,
And why? I said so, that is all.
No fact or premise to discuss,
Just heed our words and don’t react.
Words we voice as loaded rebuffs,
But right or wrong they have impact.
They stir your blood, and get you mad,
Opposing sides are seen as fiends
We say its truth, its ironclad,
‘til flaws pop up within the seams
The storyline so far we’ve told,
Is one of so-called truths I’d say.
To take the knowledge that is sold
And line it up in bad display.
The grandstanding I’ve conjured up,
will tear these fellowships apart.
The body counts will pile up,
Until it sates this blackened heart.
I care not what your voice would say
Just if our schemas come to light
Agendas we have put in play,
to argue with you out of spite.
With curtains drawn to keep you blind,
The plight at hand will never mend
With folds opaque, you are consigned,
to fox news or to CNN.
Unclear of who is speaking truth,
With evil shepherds leading flocks
The righteous path is never smooth,
And filled with many aftershocks
We spew opinions with no fact,
Just feelings drawn of love and hate
Those feelings then are piggybacked
And used to then intimidate
We exercise our human rights
The ones we’re given at our birth
Our untrained eyes can see the night
But know not of the demon’s worth
So head first then we fuel the fire,
And heap into this moving train.
A train to nowhere just swamp and mire,
the same old muck we’ve kept in vain
We know reporters tend to lie,
A paycheck verifies just that
Their words are no more dignified,
Republican or Democrat.
We saw the storm from very start,
It bubbled slow within the pot
Then low and swift it ripped the heart
Right from the frame and left a slot
In such a searing storm, despoiled,
Where plans were vexed and lives were lost.
Our finest buried undersoil,
Beneath the green and hoary frost
Distraught we eyed the screen display
In hopes the juggernaut was tamed
We found only our souls were slayed
with no one but ourselves to blame.
If left unscathed the baleful build,
And undermine the innocent
The phalanx of the strongly willed,
will be the last known dissidents.
The paradigms we hold of late,
Of model senates holding court,
Their marks are blemished, they hold no weight,
if human lives are plagued for sport.
One man cannot destroy a world,
Without the help of willing hands
His confidants are boys and girls
The ones elected as our brand.

Very well penned, Paul. Politics have always been a dirty business, but I have never seen so much disrespect or so many foul mouthed members of Congress. I pray there are enough intelligent parents around to bring up a more respectful and intelligent generation. One of the major problems is teachers in public schools who use their own political views to warp the minds of children. Your poem highlights all the problems of politics. Great work.
Thank you so much for your kind words Phyllis. It seems as though the intellect of the next generation is regressing, which is a sad thing for our future. Teachers, more so college professors are poisoning the institutions, and the congress acting like a bunch of kindergarten students is not helping, Schumer and Pelosi are a joke.
OMGosh! Pelosi needs to give it up and go home and sit in her rocker behind her security walls – and Schumer is just plain nuts.
Their last conference was such a schoolyard tactic. Oh the president got some airtime, we want ours too or we are going to take our ball and go home. Democratic party reps are becoming more and more nutty as the days go on. How can they not see this wall being a benefit. Even the border security troops agree with it. You want to come in, do it legally.
Yes, do it legally. Did you know that Obama, Hillary, and Schumer were all for a stronger border security, even a wall or barrier until Trump promised to build one? Now they will not agree to a deal just because they do not like Trump and refuse to let him win. They would rather play politics than protect American citizens.
Yup they are all flip floppers but because Trump is republican they are against it.
The Dems are blinded in their hatred for the President. They are missing the whole point of the “wall”. The wall is not to keep people out, but to force them to use the front door – no different than any other American in their own homes. Of course just like your home if someone wants to circumvent the security of your home or wall and break in – they will – at that point they have crossed over and become a criminal and when captured the law of the land takes over. I for one find President Trump abrasive with a huge ego, but a patriot never less. Like him or not I believe he is the man that America needed at this time in the history of this country. I pray (I am sure that will trigger someone) that we as Americans can find a common ground and just let the man do his job. The Dems have got to remember President Trump is not a King for life and there will be other Presidents in the future, it is how America works.
Both sides are nuts. I like him because he tries to put America first. I admit he is a knucklehead sometimes. If its not in their agenda they will never let him his job.
I’m disgusted by the state of things in American politics – it’s beyond any sense of what’s good for the nation. The two-Party system has done more damage to the regular working person than anything else I can think of. Glad to see people voicing their thoughts on it though!
They really have. It seems as though both parties do not care about the people. It really boils down to greed and kindergarten tactics. Really sad.
Very poignant and excellently penned Paul. I think you captured and expressed the views of the majority of the population. Admittedly, I am from across the waves but I can relate to the plight of your country and hope things improve greatly going forward, and divides that have formed slowly close.
Thanks John. I dont think the divide will ever close because of the present way our politics are run. Congress people can run an unlimited amount of times. Hence why we have an ancient relic called Nancy Pelosi leading a party. Shes so full of crap its coming out of her ears, not that McConnell is much better either. Trump had the right idea to drain the swamp, i just think he got sucked into the party bs and he cant get out now. Thanks for commenting John, appreciate it.
Paul, thank you for stirring up good conversation. I feel that all of this uproar comes from being bombarded with rhetoric that builds emotion. We have sold rhetoric as belief for so long that we have forgotten that their is real issues regarding human lives at stake. Thank you again Paul. Jamie
I always err on the side of caution when dabbling in the realm of politics. But these politicians are insane. They have no clear care for the American people, no actual regard for our well being, they just argue about their own agendas. Both sides suck. Thank you for your comments Jamie.
Paul , It IS that simple , Obstructionists have gone insane and they have hijacked all of the liberals and news media with them , WHY ?
They all want the entanglements of big government and Trump scares the hell out of them all !
Nice write !
Trump definitely scares the crap out of them, he’s not the norm when it comes to politics. These clowns need term limits placed on them, fresh faces need to circulate through politics. These has-beens are so out of touch with society, and i dont think they particularly care. Sad but true. Thanks for your comments Ed. Much appreciated
Insanity Politics indeed. I can write pages of my feelings on the kindergarten politics going on in your country. I love the USA and have traveled it often throughout my years. It saddens me to see the divisiveness going on when it’s not necessary. It’s a war against your sitting President, a man who may not be the most loved, yet a man who has done more good for your people than past presidents have achieved in their first 2 years. We don’t VOTE for a person’s personality, candor, articulation etc etc. We VOTE for the best candidate who offer us much change and he’s doing just that. So your poem is perfectly applied here, and it’s so frustrating to watch FAKE MEDIA and LEFT WING POLITICIANS try to tear about TRUMP, but he’s a fighter and their SCARED of him, I say he either is going to be a ONE TERM President only if he decides enough is enough and throws his hands in the air and goes back to his TRUMP EMPIRE and let those dumb ass politicians and media try to run your country, or he stands firm and RUNS AND WINS the 2010 election and continues his ferocious fight to MAKE AND KEEP AMERICA GREAT. I say GO DONALD GO…..
Yeah i dont mind Trump. He is a little boneheaded and corny at times, but other than that I love that he treats these politicians like the big children that they are. Dems better get some new blood, and i dont mean one of these” safe space” everyone deserves everything politicians, or they will lose again. Thanks for commenting my friend.
