Oncoming Spring

Fragrant, the oncoming spring,
burgeoning life a nuance of each day brings,
change and warmth so missed,
in every shoot and leaf to be,
and the sun graces land with a loving heart,
the arc much higher and centered,
and looking forward we are gratified,
blossoms in profuse bloom fill the streets
and quantify our awe.
The air seems sweet as if the angels
did lace the breeze with honeysuckle,
and although not yet, our senses regret the wait,
but one can feel the days progress,
attest to more halcyon days,
to come and transform this winter laden malaise,
and awake those senses, half in hibernation,
imagination held only in a dream,
until the spring erupts in pristine touch.
Grass grows so quickly, vibrant green
in lush transition, so held at bay by the chills of morn,
now seeking sun and driven to aspire,
and birdsong finds my heart at dusk,
from nooks in coldest winter
they emerge all fluffed and eager,
their melodious songs bring the day
to a glorious opening,
and I in their wake, throwing off my covers.
The sun smiles and it is infectious,
eyes blurred yet striving for clarity,
as colors bare their vibrancy,
and clear skies reign, no cloud would dare
contain this expanse, this morning dance of light,
and so I venture out, see every light and shadow,
each leaf and flower as if cut from crystal paper,
so acutely crisp and lively,
a caper so beguiling in its view.
Spring brings such hope and beauty,
the days in change give meaning to the rising season,
and I imbibe each moment,
each slow and steady omen of growth,
arising in pride and mirth,
as if celebrating the new life and growing warmth,
so heart-felt this feeling,
this oncoming spring laden with gifts,
and in song, uplifting the heart.

Beautifully penned, emotive phrases, expressions of joy for the new life on its way. This is so cheerful and vividly portrayed in my mind. Here I am preparing for winter as you look for signs of spring. Lovely verse, Tony. May all your days start with such joy. Take care.
Thanks, Phyllis, yes Spring is one of my favorite seasons with all the new growth and change. Such a relief from the harsh winter. Take care.
